This Belle-Île-en-Mer travel poster art print captures the vibrant harbour of Le Palais, viewed from the towering stone ramparts of the Citadelle Vauban.
Looking down from the grassy slopes of the fortress, massive sunlit defensive walls drop steeply into the deep, rippling turquoise water of the port. Across the channel, the lively waterfront is lined with tall, multi-storey townhouses painted in cheerful pastel shades of yellow, blue, pink and white, all capped with traditional dark slate roofs. Rising above the terraced streets, the slender, dark spire of the town church provides a sharp focal point against the green, tree-lined hillsides receding into the background.
Along the stone quays, several small yachts and a larger motor vessel are securely moored, their white hulls contrasting with the rich colour of the water. The painted style uses detailed, textured brushstrokes to capture the bright daylight, highlighting the rough texture of the citadel's masonry and the reflection of scattered white clouds in the harbour below.
At a glance:
- View over Le Palais harbour from the Citadelle Vauban
- Pastel-coloured townhouses and dark slate roofs
